Asus Xonar D2X - Not being detected....

Thread Starter
So, my new Xonar D2X was delivered this morning, yay! Got straight onto installation, but I cant install it mad.gif

First I got "Please plug in ASUS Xonar Audio device!", which I am still getting, I have looked in device manager and its shown as Multimedia Audio Controller with the yellow !

Tried to updated the driver from there, didnt work, Windows could not find driver, although I just downloaded it and pointed it to the folder.

I shut it down, undid the screw incase it was tight and had pulled it from the pci-x slightly, but same...

Any ideas what I am missing here? My spec below is pretty much up-to-date.

Is power cable connected to D2X?

Also open the setup.exe file inside of Win7 folder not the setup.exe outside.

Have tried both setup files, and both give the same response. Power is connected and its lit up like a christmas tree

Thanks for the reply though

Have you tried installing the D2X in a different PCIe slot to rule out a faulty PCIe slot?

Random, the device id was PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82751043 but in the .inf it was PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82B71043...

Edited .inf in notepad and it seems to be installing

Edit - Yep, all fine..

Hello all,

OK, first time in my life (finally) I will leave fix to something, as previously I was only using the information from the forum. I had the same problem with my sound card - couldn't install the drivers as the card hasn't been detected due to no power. The power was there (checked with multimeter). I have tried everything that can be found on the web and spent about 8 hours in total with no result at all.

Problem occurred after new windows was installed.
- ASUS P5Q-E mobo
- ASUS Xonar Essence STX - pluged in/ powered but no sound/no clicking when logging to windows

So ManDown has left a tip here but without any details. I will try to make this simple for everyone:

GO TO
- Device Manager, right click on the device that is causing problems, choose properties, go to RESOURCES TAB,

- From drop down choose HardwareID - check the list there ( I had 4 different ones, the one on the top was- VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_835D1043&REV_00

- Now, all you got to do is to put this map name into editable/configuration files found in the drivers folder you have downloaded from the web.
Basically I have checked all of them and was looking for the map name, the one I had found was different to the ones I had in my HardwareId thing, so I replaced them in every single file that I could.

- File in the main folder - CmiOemConfig
- XonarSTX file (setup information file) in Win7/SoftwareDriver/driver
- cmudaxp file in Win7/SoftwareDriver/INI

I think this is all I had to do. SAVE every change and load the SETUP file from Win7 folder.

It worked form me, I have tried everything else I could before. If you don't have maps displayed in HardwareID section you will need to overwrite cards EPPROM, you can find the instructions here - http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Xonar_EEPROM_Failure

Good LUCK - I hope I will help someone solving this problem, which seems to be HELL for many PC users.

Thanks and Good Luck !!!!
