I mastered most the songs in the game, but turn the game off, and I still can't play guitar at all
. The game didn't teach me to play guitar without an onscreen guide. It does have an option to remove the notes after you master a song, but my memory and rhythm is not good enough to play guitar like that.
I stick to rock band, and 5 buttons for the most part. It's more accessible and fun when your with friends. If you pull out rocksmith, every single person that has never played a guitar will not be able to hit a single note and will not have fun. It's about a million times more challenging, and you need to put hundreds
of hours into it before you can really start playing the majority of the notes in a song.
The game is fun, but the thing that really made me give up were the loading times. A good 2 minutes to start a song, tune before every song, play song, then 2 minutes to get back to menu. Repeat, about 4 minutes of loading per song. It came out for PC recently, and I assume the loading times would be much better.

Expect to practice for hundreds of hours before you can somewhat master very easy songs. Depending on your skill, you may never be able to do some of the moderate/harder songs (most of the on-disc songs are pretty easy, they have megadeth and stuff in DLC though.. GL with that
