Not a real build but still I'd like to share it

A few months ago at the bar I was talking to someone. After he heard I work with computers he asked me to take a look at his machine, it never realy ran right, lots of errors, blue screens, was taken to a bunch of shops where they tried to fix it and he kind of had given up hope on it. So I made him a deal that if I couldn't fix it he wouldn't have to pay. The no cure no pay deal sounded reasonable to him so I picked up the thing the next day and started to work on it a few days later. Man, was that thing a mess!

Some pictures of how it was...

Some people have a strange definition of the words 'cable management'...

What a mess...

After a run of memtest it seemed it had a lot of memory problems. So I started with a bios upgrade, since on the asus support page of the memory it stated a bios-update that should improve memory compatibility.

After that I did a few runs of memtest86 wich came out clean.

After that I'd thought it be a good idea to clean the system and do a small upgrade on the cable management, or rather the lack of it.

to

cleaned the heatsinks and fans

rerouted most of the cables

Final result:

When I returned it the owner almost coulnd't believe it was the same system. He also didn't believe I'd fix the problems without replacing any part at all, still, he was pretty happy and was happy it didn't cost an arm and a legg since no parts had to be replaced. Now he can finaly enjoy his system, to bad it missed it's glory days since in the time it was new it wasn't stable at all. Still I think it has some days left even though its pretty outdated nowadays.
