[Murdermod] Murderbox MKII Prototype fully unveiled! - Page 26

In addition to what CyberDruid said above, what's the bad thing about Silverstone Striders? They run the same price as a Corsair AX series PSU and put out some capacity, respectively. Oh, and a 1200W Silverstone Strider isn't as LONG (taking up unnecessary space) as an AX1200.

The current rig I use on a daily basis; is being used due to size constraints. You name brands but I doubt you understand that some of those brands are the best you can get.

This Biostar board can overclock the Phenom II x6 to 4.4Ghz if I use the water cooling setup, but that takes up more space, takes more time to clean, and doesn't fit inside the case.

We all have our systems for a reason, and I have mine for a reason.

Call me ritzy but to me, you're a Civic. I'm a Lexus. Murderbox is a Bentley. And you only give us mean stares.

In your eyes it is. I have total appreciation for what he created. The effort required to make the build so clean is impressive. However, I would not purchase one simply because I do not like that case style. After reading these comments it's readily apparent some people cannot handle others being critical of something they like. I was not overly impressed with several decisions the builder made in his creation. Overall, I am not in love with this design, but can appreciate the beauty, effort, and simplicity it represents. Kudos to the builder. I like certain aspects, but as a whole I would not own one (and I could afford it if I wanted so don't start calling me a civic as well please.)

Jumping in here is probably not the smartest move I've made this week, especially since this is post one. But when I did a search for "murderbox MKII," this thread is the most prominent one, and I wanted to see what the reaction is to the new case.

First - I'll state that I am friends with Charles, and have worked with him in the past on his murdermod business - not for financial gain, just helping out a friend. I've had nothing to do with the MKII design or implementation. Just wanted to make a few comments on what I've seen here.

1. The photos aren't photoshopped or highly edited. I'd be willing to bet the system looks even better in real life, cause I know Charles really isn't all that great of a photographer, and certainly isn't a wizard at photo editing wink.gif He does have lots of experience taking photos of computer builds, and is a perfectionist at getting the right lighting and setup - no doubt about it. I can see why people might think these photos were photoshopped - I know I had to look closely after my initial scroll through the photos. It's just that clean and monochromatic.

2. MDPC is NOT about the hardware. In fact, the creator of the MDPC Gallery has stated publicly that hardware is not the point. As others have already said - it's about featuring photos of systems that are beautiful examples, and that show an evolution in design and style. We may not agree with the choices, we may not like the potential for aesthetics over performance, but showcasing beautiful PCs is what the MDPC gallery is about.

3. As I understand it, this is a custom build in a prototype of the MKII case. So hardware choices are up to the future buyers of this case.

4. There seems to be a lot of confusion about just what this case is. I'm a bit confused myself, because I keep getting sidetracked looking at the build. So far I can see lots of things I like about the case, and can't wait to see all the details. Charles hasn't shared these details, but he has said more info is coming. So, dang it, I'll just have to be patient. I imagine he'll update the murderbox website when he's ready.

5. As for all the arguments - that's life on forums these days, isn't it? This case will have admirers, and there will be haters. Life would be dull if we all liked the same things.

My compliments to Charles, Callen, and others who have worked so hard on this, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

For me personally, I find this to be a stunning build. The sheer complexity behind the minimalist look is what impresses me the most. This wasn't a matter of just throwing parts into a case and sleeving a psu....this case has many innovative features that most of you are missing. A reversible motherboard tray AND psu? Unheard of in a build and just goes to show the level of engineering that went into the design.

Criticizing the hardware because you don't like some of the parts? Look at the whole picture and how the hardware seamlessly integrates with the monochromatic theme. While parts of the system may not be considered at the pinnacle of cutting edge technology, it is still a very respectable system.

Stare at the photos long enough and you might begin to get it and see why parts were selected and the design elements behind the system.

I believe the Striders are easier to sleeve which is why Charles chose it over the AX1200

I've been in contact with Charles for a couple of weeks now, seems a nice guy smile.gif Although he didn't tell me much about the case before launch, he did tell me just how much effort him and the team were having to put in with the silverstone design team in order to produce the MKII.

I love the case, and the whole build together. He is going to be releasing the luminous panel as a mudermod part too, I cant wait for that biggrin.gif

Edit: Holy... when did overclock.net get so hostile to other people not agreeing with their views? mad.gif

Yeah but you can't really sleeve an AX1200 (conventionally anyway).
