Running a duct from A/C vent to my case?

Thread Starter
I looked through this forum and can't seem to find anything exactly matching the idea i had. Basically I was thinking of taking a piece of dryer ducting and running it off half the register in my room directly to my side panel.

Number one concern I would have with this is would it cause condensation issues inside my case? Could it be alleviated by just running the duct within about 6" of my side panel fan making the ambient around my case cooler without directly ducting it in there? I'm not concerned about my A/C cycling off while under load or anything because....well my a/c hardly ever cycles off during the summer (probably 20 yr old system in an apartment with a very clogged A-coil.....still pushes pretty damn cool air out of the registers though....kinda concerned that the fact that the A-coil being clogged and the system somewhat bypassing it would increase condensation concerns though).

Worth the risk or naw?

As I read the title, first thing I thought was condensation.

I feel like it will definitely lead to condensation unless you can dehumidify the air or something? Even then it might.

Although if you were just cooling the area around the case, it might not. However, the air coming from the vent might have more humidity, which could still cause condensation.

A typical AC unit will dehumidify the air as it works. Its why there is water that usually needs a place to drain to.

Like I said I was thinking condensation issues might come into play here, just wanted to confirm.

been done, works well... !!
wouldn't run 24/7 unless the board is prepped for some serious condensation..

why not run it to the back panel of the case, ergo cooling the panel down but not actually entering the case?

or if its possible to run it through a dehumidifier before it enters the case?
It seems like it would work, but extremely impractical. Are you talking about running ducting from the central air system in the house? Or from a window unit?
