G500 and g9 both double click on single click , habu wires short out. Mx 518 was great till sister put ink pen to the bottom . The bst mouse looks like great mouse clicks and sencer . But g500 and g9 both can get replacement switchs for the mouse buttons .

All mice are subject to failure.

Double clicking isn't really a technical fault of a specific mouse as you're dealing with expected ratings on a sub mini snap action switch. Some mice can fault early while others will last years. There's "binning", but a faulty switch can pop up even with the highest life expectancy.

As for quality, theres multiple variables to look at such as industrial design, internal components, and choices made that bring a product together. Even if a product has a good reputation, it could lack in areas other products excel in and vice versa. Mostly depends on R&D budget and what's viewed as important to the product being sold.

With that, this thread is really old, though the question is more or less a popularity poll.

I had a logitech mouse which still works after 10 years everyday use.
Sadly, my Logitech G700 it's starting to doubleclick after just 11 months!
(And the rubberlike paint wore off in a month or less)

What to buy then if not logitech? frown.gif

I'm so disappointed.

I think there are different things you should be looking at if durability is a concern for you.

-Warranty. Some companies have longer warranties which they honor without hassle. The 3 year warranty on Logitech mice is a good example.

-Parts that can break. For a given build quality, more individual leds and other fancy stuff also means more that can break or deteriorate over time. This includes special coatings, things that can be screwed or clicked onto the mouse etc.

-Reputation. Some mice have a reputation for lasting 5+ years for most people. The MX518 is an example. I'm tempted to think the G400 is of similar build quality, but it has only been released in 2011, so no one has really tested the durability yet.

Most mice use basically the same switches, AFAIK, the only thing mice makers can use to keep their lifespan up is not allowing over pressing the switch, or I dunno, more debouncing?

My mx518 is 2.5 years old and could be mistaken for brand new. I think I found it on sale for ~$30. That feels like a legitimate deal to me.

I think that when it comes to the switches, they are all rated for the same number or button presses (all Omron, sometimes Huano etc.). What you really need to watch out for is reoccurring flaws. One thing that is a frequent weak point in a lot of mice is the scroll wheel, which is often the first to break.
