New Ram Wanted

Thread Starter
So after seeing my RAM useage hitting 75-80% and staying there i think its time that i upgraded my RAM. I know 75%+ sounds like alot and could be a problem elsewhere, i have a Program (Football Manager 2011) that uses nearly 2gb on its own

Anyway i am looking for 2x4gb kit that i would be upgrading to 4x4gb later on, reason i cant got 4x2gb or anything is currently my CPU cooler is a bit too close to the first Ram socket and if there is ram connected to that socket it constantly is in touch with the cooler and i dont want the pressure breaking to socket or anything

I will later be upgrading both my Case and my CPU cooler so hoping to have a lot more space. ANyway i was thinking about getting this : http://www.ebuyer.com/278225-corsair-8gb-2x4gb-ddr3-1600mhz-low-profile-vengeance-memory-kit-cl9-1-35v-cml8gx3m2a1600c9w

What do you guys think, is it any good? i need a 2x4gb kit for around £50-60 but could go a bit higher should it be recommended by a lot of people smile.gif

That vengeance kit is the one of the best kits going although if your getting a new cooler soon try and get the ones with the black or blue heat spreaders.

A the look cool
B they keep the ram cooler biggrin.gif

Cheers, good to know they are solid. How much temp difference is it? they are quite tall and by "soon" i mean in 2-3months. I could get the taller ones for slots 2 and 4 on my motherboard, 1 and 3 arent being used as slot 1 is too close too the cooler and any sort of RAM would be touching it and when i get new case and cpu cooler maybe something like the H50 or something then i would get a second set for slots 1 and 3 smile.gif

if youre worried about height corsair do make low profile vengence RAM modules, designed to fit under large air coolers. Im not sure what temps would be since it has less of an area (in theory) to spread the heat over, but i think it would remain very similar to standard vengence modules

http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-low-profile-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cml8gx3m2a1600c9.html

(thats the 8gb 1333MHz kit, i couldnt find a link for the 1600MHz version)

there are also other performance lines of memory that will easilly fit under air coolers, like the mushkin redline/blackline series aswell for example.

redline

blackline
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226193

(both mushkin kits listed are 8gb at 1600MHz)

all of them are highly recommended and very solid kits. You wont have any performance troubles with either kit.

Other "tall" sets of ram that you can use for slots 2 and 4 if you so desire include regular corsair vengence/dominator memory, g skill ripjaws and ripjaws X and Kingston hyperX. All of which have 8gb 1600mhz kits available

im also pretty sure the corsair h50's are discontinued biggrin.gif, h60's have become their replacement

Thanks alot for the info, i guess its back to trying to decide but if the temp difference isnt that much - they wont be overclocked or anything anyway then i most likely will go for some low profile ones

And even then will stick to 2x4gb for now and see how my computer does with that and if i do need more then will upgrade to another 2 smile.gif

I havent been on here in ALONG time, though i remember that before i left the H60 had just been released. I do want to end up with a WC setup but not in this case thats for sure as it has barely any room in it as it is lol
