ULi Chipset and Gigabyte mobo?

Thread Starter
Well unfortuantley my P4 and Asus board got hit by lightning a couple of days ago. So I figured I would take the AMD route this time. What I have decided on is the 3800+ X2 and the Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128307 which has the ULi 1689 chipset, X2 and AGP support (which AGP is a must). This is the first time I have seen/heard of the ULi chipset and I am kind of weary about getting it. It's hard to find a mobo (in stock) with AGP and X2 support. I am not planning on OCing this board so overclockability is not an issue. Stabily is what I am looking for. Has anyone heard or had any experience with this Gigabyte/ULi set up?

I am open to other suggestion with dual core and AGP support.

Thanks,
Archer_456

ULI chipsets are decent. I wouldnt doubt that your system would run perfectly stable at stock speeds using that board. However if I was the one looking for a socket 939 board with AGP I'd go with this board:

Epox nf3 250:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813123263

I'd rather have nforce3 than a ULI chipset just because I know it's a proven chipset. I've heard lots of good feedback about epox aswell.

BTW, long time no see.

I would recommend getting the Asrock dual sata mobo. It supports socket AM2, 939, DDR2 RAM, AGP, PCI-Express and a whole lotta other crap lol. Overclocking is very good on it too and ther is a lot of support from it with the forum. Same Chipset as tat gigbyte too. I love it.

Thanks for the reply bigvaL. Ya long time no see, LOL. The only problem with the Epox board is that doesn't have dual core support.
