The entire STALKER series. The Metro 2033 dev team was splintered off from the STALKER dev team actually.

STALKER is an open world Metro, that's the main difference.

When playing STALKER, always use the Complete mod by Pavel. The graphics are updated, bugs are fixed, and things are streamlined. Play STALKER 1, Call of Pripyat, and then Clear Sky (it's mediocre), in that order.

The first STALKER + Complete is one of my favorite PC games. It takes effort to get into, but it's worth it. Make sure to visit "Guide" when you get the prompt in the mission log, it leads to the true ending and another couple hours of gameplay.

Other games that have that "traveler through an alien hostile world" feel? I can't think of any other off the top of my head... Try Zeno Clash if you haven't. Kind of a random suggestion, but you kind of get the same vibe. RAGE should fit the bill, and that's out in a week.

Another recommendation for STALKER. Grab all 3, and find a comfy chair. They'll occupy your time for quite a while.
In progress.

Deus Ex maybe?

What part of the game did you particularly enjoy, the sci-fi fps part or the horror scary parts?

Dead Space might fit the bill, although I haven't really played through it all the way myself.

Bulletstorm must be a good choice.About BF and COD both of them aint my favorite type.I beliave the single player of the fps game must have a deep and fictional story just like metro 2033.
