Received a 1x4 GB in place of 2x2 GB what to do?

Thread Starter
I have received a Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 1x4 GB(CMX4GX3M1A1600C9) stick in place of my ordered 2x2 GB (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) for my new build. which includes X4 955 BE, ASUS M5A97 EVO, MSI R6770 1GB, Sea sonic S12 II 520 W, CM Elite 430, Hyper 212+, 1TB HDD.
My question is will a single stick to dual channel cause noticeable differences for medium gaming and multimedia use?
will the single stick be a problem for overclocking my CPU to 3.8 GHz without any performance drop compared to a dual channel 2x2 GB kit?
Or shall i use this and buy a another 1x4 GB same type to get the dual advantage? (read in corsair forums that this is not advisable should buy dual kits only to get the dual advantage headscratch.gif)

Any help would me great.. I have zeroed on this budget rig after reading and learning a lot from this forum..
thanks in advance

There is very little actual real world performance difference between single and dual channel. Keep it, less stress on IMC and you have more upgradeability options.

Yeah. A kid in class did this with a newegg shellshocker. I had to spell out that the combo included a single 4GB stick. Are you in my class?

In many synthetics, were talking 20% memory bandwidth improvement over a double width bus. So this statement is very true. You probably wont see 1FPS less with single channel.

If anything, agree with your ugradability.

Solution:
Order 3 more 4 GB sticks.

Fine than shall stick with this and get another later..
But those posts in Corsair forum made me think not first actually. Is it a marketing thing??

Also it is headache here to send it back and get a new one will loose 1-2 weeks before I boot my new system if i do that..
