Quite the odd situation...

Thread Starter
I have tried for 3 months to fix my graphics driver problem, and over on another thread, someone suggested I take out one stick of ram! So i did, I tried both sticks in with just 4gbs in the machine instead of 8, and I have had no problems!!!

So, my question is: I have 4gbs of XMS3 in my mobo right now. I REALLY need the extra 4gbs. My computer froze up yesterday because I had too many things going. :/ But I've taken precautionary steps and what-not...With this setup it seems as though RAM fixes my problems. Im so glad I narrowed down my findings.

So, what do I do now? Should I spend the extra 120$ on some new RAM? Or should I stick with my one stick of four. I have about 300-700 saved up right now. My parents borrow money all the time so idk what the total is.

are you running an overclock? filling all slots with ram can cause problems with an overclock, you could try filling all slots and setting everything back to stock.

From your rig, I am pretty sure you didnt have an overclock, despite having an ROG Crosshair IV Formula!!!?!?! :O Blasphemy!

Anyway, if you think you need more RAM, get it. Then overclock with the new amt of RAM. Will be harder, but its doable. I mean look at my sig rig.

I hope you mean "My parents lend me money all the time......"as having you parents borrow money for your rig is ****ed up LOL.

I think he means his folks borrow money from him all the time, so he doesnt exactly know how much dough he's got at the moment.

Re: the matter at hand, if you need the RAM, seems the choice is clear. Have you tested each stick by itself with MemTest?

If you do end up purchasing RAM, think I saw a really nice RipJaws X-series (4x4GB) kit for $149 just a few minutes ago on the Egg.

EDIT: Here it is, G.Skill Ripjaws X 16GB kit, 1866 @ CL9, $149.

Just throwin that out there... Lots of much cheaper 16GB kits, and cheaper still 8GB kits that would overclock nicely.

My parents helped pay. LOL I paid 750$ They paid 300-ish. lol

And yes ik. I haven't had the time to screw with the settings much. The BF3 Beta is out, whatd u expect LOL.

So what RAM do you reccommend? At least 8GB. BTW Basket, that model isnt on my mobo manual. :/ Sorry!
