Then I found this thing:

Though their site apparently won't let me order it because I'm in Australia, even though they say they will ship to Australia. So I found one on ebay and ordered it instead.
Other sites call it a contour designs shuttle xpress (as opposed to the proper spelling of express)
There's also this:
http://www.amazon.com/3Dconnexion-SpaceNavigator-Standard-Navigation-3DX-700028/dp/B000LB7G00/ref=pd_cp_e_1
which I think has more functionality than the griffin powermate, though I think it's more aimed at 3D modelling/CAD

I'm very intrigued by this product, is this basically like a separate macro device?

Yeah, the buttons are programmable (though I'm not sure to what extent, since I don't have mine yet - it says there are presets for several applications). I'm basically just planning on using it for media controls (play/pause, next, previous, stop, mute).

I basically don't like having to use an FN key modifier for media keys, and since Corsair decided to use dome switches, I thought I'd just get a separate device for media buttons and use my own fully mechanical backlit keyboard (currently a Ducky Shine).
Though if Corsair or Logitech make a fully mechanical version of the K90 or G19/G510 (with a proper volume wheel), I'll probably get one of those.

I was thinking about opening the K90 then moving the numpad red switches with the doom switches for esc + F keys. No clue how difficult this would be, but I figured hopefully bestbuy can get some soon -.- and if I fail i'll return it lol.

My two cents on this:

I can understand why Corsair chose to use different switches for certain buttons, and I don't even have a problem with them using domes. What I do find a little odd is the keys they chose to dome.

I don't know about anyone else, but hitting Ctrl, Alt, and then a very different Del just seems like it would feel very off.

What I would have preferred:

All mechanical keys as is.
Mechanical Esc key. (this often gets hammered if something freezes, so durability would help there)
Mechanical Ins/Home group.
Maros... To be honest, the only reason I want the K90 over the K60 is the backlighting, so I don't much care.

Great job on the keyboard though Corsair. One of (if not the) finest looking mechanical keyboard around. And thank you, bloody thank you, for including a decent set of media keys!

the markham location had a demo pre production unit with billinugal layout. this mean short left shift key and weird enter key. stay away.

in fact, i would not classify this keyboard as a mechanical keyboard. not worth the money.
