I think the barton 3000+ and 3200+ was the fastest for that socket.

Well from what I can dig up, the 462 socket or also "Socket A", is a discontinued socket type. It was a AMD exclusive socket according to wikipedia. From what i have read, I gather your best bet may be a Sempron 3000+, Sempron 64 or maybe an athlom xp-m. I'd say sempron is your best bet, I say 3000+ because it look like those had higher clock rates. Though the 3000+ is 32-bit only.

Edit:Oh Buckaroo beat me to it, Good stuff I didn't find info about the 3200+, but i'd try and find one of those cpu's, likely faster clock rate then 3000+

Looks like the old compaq I have sitting next to me lol. I have a Thermaltake Volcano 12 for socket A. Its a copper fin style heat sink with the tt8032(stock fan). I also have a stock socket A heatsink and fan. Lemme know if you're interested.

Hey that looks like a AMD Geode processor you have in there Narwhal. What does it say on it?

That picture is a 3000+ Sempron, it would suit you good, though a 3200+ would prob be ideal for speed.

Edit: Wait why look for a CPU? You have one in the socket and if it is a Geode it might be worth keeping

My mistake, I now see it is an athlon processor. Continue on searching for a cpu, I believe the athlon will be disappointing.
