The PVP and friends is why I still play. If I didn't have my buddies to help me slaughter countless players, I would probably just drop it completely.

I'm currently a recovering WoW-addict... I played for 6 years and I can totally see how downloading the cata-trail would lead you to the boring/repetitive aspect of the game. In vanilla leveling was a lot more fun and challenging, currently the game is about 'grinding' up to endgame just to 'grind' some more.

I totally agree with all the posts about it being a community game. If I hadn't had my group of friends to pvp/raid with I would have been done a long time ago.

I do not in the least agree with you complaining about the stop-cast when you move. It's about checks and balances between the classes. If a mage was able to shoot while moving it would destroy melee classes in pvp. They are already a pain to catch up with (I was a warrior) and if they could be spam-shooting me while I was trying to stay on them it would be game over.

I quit the game because it's all about grinding to get stuff. It felt like a second job; I would come home from work just to do dailies then not have enough time to do much pvp/instances.

I miss vanilla...

You say that now >.>.. but vanilla was worst in terms of grinding :-p imo. Remember the AQ Rep farming/Opening the gates(My guild opened AQ Gates for our server). The raids itself was fun though but it took so long to clear a whole area with the abundant trash mobs(MC took hours to clear so did BWL then AQ40 especially from Twin Emps to Cthun and lets not talk about Naxx40 lmaoo..)

Anyways yeah people have this tainted view of WoW now because its an old game really. People are expecting to feel the magic they felt when they first played the game back then but thats rare in ANY GAME thats been out for that long especially an MMO.

I have been playing WOW for over 3 years now. it is a solid game with many aspects. A lot of people like it and a lot of others don't. I am not a big FPS gamer so for the most part I am not going crazy over BF3 as an example. Besides WOW I play Starcraft II, Command and Conquer (all of them), Company of Heroes, League of Legends and others.

It's all personal preference as to what each of us likes or doesn't like.

WoW was the best game I have ever played. As some people have already said, the social aspect of it is huge.

However, all those people that try it, level up to 20 (or lower), and say the game sucks... Come on! The game first starts at max level, where you can raid etc. Up until that point, it has just become the same deal - grinding/questing for days. I can see why this is boring (only leveled 1 character myself because of this.)

I say it WAS the best game I have ever played, because I think they ruined it with WotLK. Level 60 was pure awesome, level 70 was great.. After that, they just made it way too easy and noobs getting epic gear and such..

TL;DR - Game starts at max level - Until then, don't judge.

You're like 6 years late to the WoW party. The experience for a new player now is drastically different than it was at launch, and a lot less fun.

Short breakdown: it's all about the memories, starting now is a waste of time.

I lost all the screenshots I've ever taken (probably around 2-3gb of them, so yeah, a few thousand), and it saddens me so much to see all those memories go, in pictures anyway.

I'm glad I play wow, it was some of the best times I had so far in life (yea I realize how sad that sounds but really, it's true).

When I think about the times where I first got to know the people I ended up playing with for years, it's just amazing, the old times where you didn't have a single clue about what to do and ended up as a rather good player, it's like looking back at your childhood being a retired person.

I don't know but it's just the whole thing about the good ol' memories, that I've not experienced in ANY other game, the whole idea between the changing content and that you wish you could go back just makes it all so different.

I vanilla I was a little-green-noob gamer... the extent of my raiding pre-bc was ZG and AQ 20. But ya I remember hearing my friends talk about the hours in MC (heck the hours in UBRS/LBRS lol)
