new HD 6950 not working

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

So I just put together my first build, unfortunately after many hours of trouble shooting and such, it looks like my computer can only run on the intel integrated graphics.

When I plug in the graphics card (specs are in sig), the system turns on like normal, fans spin on GPU card, but no picture. Its like the computer is running but with no displays at all.

anyone have any tips about this?

If you can POST and everything with integrated video, but you cannot with the GPU, the GPU is the culprit here. It's unfortunately most likely DoA, especially if you've tried it on the other pci-e slots.

Do you have another GPU laying around just to test?

unfortunately i don't have another GPU lying around

i did an external build before placing it in the case and it worked there, and it sometimes worked here and there but mostly failed.

thanks for the feedback

Did you plug the power cable in to it?

Congrats on your new build mate!

The culprit is probably your PSU (Power Supply Unit). It's only 600W. Trade it in for a more powerfull and gold certified psu. 800-1000W should do just fine, preferably a 1000W so you can upgrade to crossfire/sli in a few years if your mobo supports it.

yeah i regret that i didnt get a more powerful PSU. however 600W should be more than enough to power up the single 6950 and the CPU. I wouldn't think that its voltage is too low
