Final Update:

I received my Sapphire Toxic 6950 from Tiger Direct and it unlocked! I am back to Crossfire unlocked 6950s now! Newegg gave me a full refund minus the cost of shipping it back to them.

So unlocking one of these is just a matter of moving the little switch? Sounds like a dumb question but I have not read very much on the subject.

YES, more or less ... Here is MY Step by Step Guide to UnLocking the TOXIC - http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/113...l#post15253189

Worked for me, and should be similar if not exactly the SAME for any HD-6950 w/ the DUAL BIOS switch that does not require the HARD FLASH to UnLock ...

and here's my post with LINKS to ALL the INFO you could ever want to read up on to educate yourself about UnLocking the Various 6950's - http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...l#post15267511
some of which WILL require FLASHING to UnLock, do so at your own risk!

GOOD LUCK

I heard a lot of people like the MSI's though for the cooling. Is the Toxic comparable for cooling? Me and a buddy are looking to get the 6950's so I'm just kinda curious.

While it's true you'll read in reviews that the MSI TF3 keeps the GPU cooler than the TOXIC card can, and that's why everyone says it's cooling is better ... The reality is Each Card has it's own niche as far as cooling is concerned if you want to look at this way ... the TOXIC, and all "Reference" designs in general have a blower type fan at the head of the card, draw air in from inside your computer case, force this air across the entire PCB card and GPU through the shroud cover, and try to exhaust the hot air out the rear mounting bracket plate. This design works well for Small Form Factor builds, small case w/ less air flow, as it minimizes the amount of heat released into your system case, but at the trade-off of slightly higher GPU temps versus potentially slightly cooler CPU/MOSFETs/overall Case temps.

After market / Non-Ref type designs, like the MSI TwinFrozr's and others take the air from inside your case and blow it all around and over the PCB/GPU and back into the case ... this often means cooler GPU temps, but sometimes at the expense of warmer Case/CPU/MOSFET temps ... unless you have a LARGE and well ventilated case where this isn't as much of an issue.

Keep in Mind today's GPU's can handle A LOT of HEAT, more so than the CPU's and other internals on your MotherBoard and inside your case. So there are pluses and minuses to weigh with each style depending upon your build, however in general the differences in temperatures aren't substantial enough or within dangerous enough territory to honestly have this be your soul reason for buying any particular card. Think about it, if the Reference design was so completely inferior as some would like to shout, then why has it been the industry standard for almost ALL nVidia and AMD/ATI cards for years now ?

Looking at YOUR rig, B-rock, looks like you have a LARGE case, and with the Corsair CPU cooler I'd assume you have an abundance of other case fan's to move air around the MotherBoard MOSFETs and other heatsinks ? so you honestly should be FINE either way. My TOXIC runs 44c @ idle and about 80-85c gaming and that's inside a tiny HP OEM mATX case with a couple extra case fans, in an 85 degree Fahrenheit room w/o Air Conditioning this summer, so I'd think it would run cooler in your Rig.
