Stabilizing my 955 at 4.5Ghz (Advice Needed)

Ok so I just got this 955 installed in my rig yesterday and I decided I would overclock and see If I got lucky with getting a good overclocker. Seeing how most 955s that I've seen only manage to get to 4.0~4.2Ghz stable I was lucky enough to get mine to 4.4Ghz Stable. Look below for more information.

I have not ran Prime95 to test stability of the Target clocks as I don't feel like waiting X amount of hours for a good/bad result and besides I figure Random BSODs are a telltale sign of instability anyways.

Stable Clocks:
Rated Speed: 4.4Ghz
Multi: 22.0
Vcore: 1.45
NB FR: 2200Mhz
RAM FR: 1333Mhz
HT Link: 2000Mhz
Thermal: 37c Idle 45c~50c Load

Target Clocks Info:
Rated Speed: 4.5Ghz
Multi: 22.5
Vcore: 1.5
NB FR: 2600Mhz
RAM FR: 1333Mhz
HT Link: 2000Mhz
Thermal: 40c Idle 47c~53c Load

The above stated "Target Info" was not sufficient to stabilize the CPU I could get into windows and load a few programs but then I'd either get a BSOD or the computer will reboot randomly. 1.6Vcore gives a Over-voltage warning and will not allow the computer boot into windows, Just saying. I'm almost stable at those clocks if anyone has any Ideas please let me know.

So you don't play games often, don't need it stable for any cpu intensive tasks..

Can I ask why you would want to have a unstable system at 4.5Ghz to do pretty much nothing that would benefit from it?

Bragging rights? 4.5 is sweet, But basically I just need a step in the right direction apparently I worded that statement wrong. thinking.gif

OP has been edited, If anyone has ideas on how I would get this stable feel free to reply.

Improve your cooling, open the window if it's cold out.

My Idle and Load temps are more than excellent... considering that my temps hardly ever go past 48c and my ambient room temps are 22c constantly and have been so over the summer. At 4.4Ghz and 1.4v my temps hardly go past 40c and stay at 33c on idle. (Corsair H50 and AC-MX4)

ok..go to the monitor tab..and check ignore on cpu vcore..i had to do this the other day..then you can experiment..grr..i'm jealous..i force-fed up to 1.8 through my chip..no 4.5 windows boot..it'd boot into bios though..then the blinking upper-left cursor..grr..wow..you must keep the AC down..lol..i'm in fla..and today is the 1st time all year i've seen 22c idle temps lachen.gif ambient here is usually around 26-27 (78-80f)

doh.gif I forgot to mention that at 1.6v bios would freeze up real quick, It took several restarts to return it to 1.5v so it wouldn't freeze. Thanks for that information though I didn't know you could disable the warning like that. thumb.gif

Yeah I've had the AC on all summer and have it set to 72F.

Disable the voltage monitoring and bump it up *off topic* that first "stable overclock" is not stable just FYI.. a 955 needs a lot more than that for being stable at that fequency

I haven't had a BSOD in days at 4.4Ghz and I've played the battlefield Beta and a few other games as well during that time.

In that case you sir got a golden chip I needed 1.54V to keep mine stable at 4.2Ghz running prime95 and BC2 as stability tests
