6850 fan and Heat Issue

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i have a XFX 6850 card for awhile now, and it seems on CCC its always at 76% fan and temp is around 48 degrees idle, now when i go on the net the fan goes up to 78% and temp goes to 57 degrees and on full load on graphically intensive games (witcher 2 and shogun 2 in my case) the temp goes up to like 88 degrees, this seems very high for the card and its worrying me.

Anyone know whats wrong? according to CCC my bios part number is 685Z-NF61 if that helps.

Thanks!

I had a check and it says its for a different product number than what my product number is on CCC, it needs a 685X-ZNFC while mine is 685Z-NF61 (which funnily enough isnt on the list of products on XFX's website, i havent checked the product key on the actual graphics card, just on CCC. but anyway if it is i dunno were to get the bios file or how to flash the bios.

Download MSI afterburner and make a custom fan profile.

I have mine setup to ramp pretty quickly, but idle at 45% (my case is pretty quiet with good airflow). I idle at 49C (ambient around 27C), but have it ramp up quickly during stress testing. By 60C, my fan is at 85%, and at 65C I am at 100%. Card maxes at 66C during max load.
It's so little!

After testing it Witcher 2 goes up to 77 degrees now with MSI controlling the fan automatically and Shogun 2 went to 71 degrees, a little better i guess. looks like i need better airflow

That would be a good place to start. Lots of good inexpensive air cooling cases out right now.
