Both GPU-Z 1.58 and Afterburner Beta 7 & 8 will show the total amount of each GPU VRAM usage. If you have 2 GPU 1GB in crossfire and say the MEM1 shows 1.75GB, it is the total of 2 x .875 = 1.75GB.

I think its just crap drivers, or buggy game. It's proven by the amount of other people with the problem. Also my mate with 2 x Nvidia cards has had problems going fullscreen and the game crashing a lot.

I will try changing some of the game settings, but funny how it works better with crossfire disabled. As also stated by "iCrap" above.
You might want to try each of the card by itself if one of them is having issues. Rusky is using 2 x 5770s as yours but he doesn't have similar issue.

Edit:

Please try one card at a time to start BF3. I think something is very wrong with one of your card.

He had exactly the same issue until he re-installed the driver as per your instructions. So most likely the same process didn't work for me, or I did one of the steps differently to him.

It could be worth swapping the cards though, just to rule it out, but they've been fine on other games.

You have 2 5770s in crossfire, right? Disable crossfire, take one card out and test to start the game in fullscreen. Then remove it, put the second card in and try the same game. The point is to see if it one of your cards has any issues.

Try each card alone in the system. Have you done that?

I will try this, this evening. I was just saying the evidence points to it being a driver/game issue rather than a problem with the cards.

ok, I fixed it while carrying out Ken's suggestion.

Basically I swapped the cards around, booting into windows appeared to have reset the driver and detected it like it was a brand new card. I had to re-install the 11.9 driver and the CAP 10.5 for good measure. Disabled ULPS again.

Whether swapping the card initiated a better driver install as a new device i don't know? or one card works better as a "master"?

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their suggestions its much appreciated.

Anyone else still having problems I suggest you swap your cards around

Update. Looks like that didn't fix it lol

It looks like the fix is something Rusky Suggested. Press Alt+Enter while the game is on the Loading Screen.

For whatever reasons, it reset the DMI pool data motherboard BIOS and the cards.
