Hey guys, well I wanted to tell you that today I bought my i7 and RAM memory but I can't get the PC working.

After I got them, I disarmed the pc I was using and then I collocated the motherboard (evga p67 ftw), CPU and rams. I haven't changed the HDD, neither I formatted it. The thing is that, when I turn it on, after showing the evga logo, a message appears saying: "No drivers for drive detected". After 2 seconds, that screen disappear for another screen with an error to appear, which says: "No hard disk detected".

After that the pc reboots and after showing the evga logo, those 2 screens don't appear but the screen where I have to pick up which OS I want to bot (I have W7 and Win.Xp). That's very weird, because first it says it doesn't recognize a HD but now it recognize the 2 partitions with each OS?

Well, I pick Windows 7 and when it's doing the animation of the logo of W7, a BSOD appears with the following message:

"Technical Information:

Check For Viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drivers or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.RUN CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive curruption, and then restart you computer.

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (OXFFFFF880009A98E8, 0XFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0X000000000000000,0X000000000000000"

And after that the PC reboots and eveeerything repeats again, and again. I tried everything: Changing the HDD from ACHI mode to IDE mode, it didn't work. I tried resetting the CMOS. Didn't work.

What can I do?

Thanks to all.

re-install windows 7 over the top of itself. (all of your document will be backed up to a c:\\windows.old\\ folder)

windows is trying to load drivers that now don't work with your system

(you could try safe mode but it will not always work)

I tried entering the OS in safe mode (as a friend told me before) but still the PC reboots.

How can I re install W7 on top of my previous W7?

Thanks!

Just use your w7 dvd and do a fresh install (without formating the HDD) on your w7 HDD.

Windows will detect and "older" (ie old installation) and move it to a folder called: c:\\windows.old\\

so all of your documents will be in there in the user sub folder.

Then just reinstall your other software.

Do you still remember your hard drive mode settings from your original setup. Was it AHCI or IDE? Go to the BIOS and change that. If it's in IDE mode, change it to AHCI or vice versa.

I may try that too.

Any other solution?

My usual problem was only the first mentioned. The bios defaults to IDE mode and I always use AHCI on all my rigs. So when I get a BSOD on boot up. I always know what went wrong. Windows 7 usually got every storage driver(including generic ones).

What was your old setup specs? I had one issue a while back when I moved a W7 hard drive from a Pentium D machine to a Core 2 quad machine.
