$1200 gaming PC build - Page 7

After reading the comment about wasting power I remembered the term bottlenecking and it just made me really think about the price of the D14 and the 212+ and that it is such a big cooler but i probably won't OC passed 4.X and with only 1 GPU right now I won't really need as high end a HSF, probably. So that's why I picked the 212+ for now unless someone else changes my mind on wether or not to just buy the D14 because it's good and will fit. I hope all that made sense.

Also I have a question about the Lanboy air, a HSF and the extra 10 fan mounts.

Will I be able to use the fan mounts on top and the side panel with the Hyper 212+?

What about with the Noctua NH-D14? I am doubting this one I think it'd be too close.

I was trying to remember that word! Lol I just couldn’t place it for the life of me.

Good luck with your build!

IDK the lanboy air is kind of a step down in terms of cooling and features from the HAF X, unless your going to use it as a LAN case or moving it around a lot. If your looking for a good looking (relatively) inexpensive case, I recommend the NZXT Phantom. One of the best looking cases on the market IMO, 7 fan capability and you can get them for about $110 at Microcenter.

I can honestly say I will probably get some pm's about this but I do not like the look of the Phantom. haha I don't know what it is about it but it is not my cup of tea. What do you think of the NZXT TEMPEST EVO. I really like the look of that one but don't know how good it is. it's cheaper and to me looks nicer.

Thanks btw to Max78. =]

Wow, thanks for that. that helps a lot. I just have so much trouble finding a case I like that is actually good. haha Or if I do find one I like that is good for temps it's really expensive. haha So I'm at a loss for what case to build with now. =/

Yeah the tempest evo is a pretty decent case and if you like the look of it I say go for it. I just think $170 is a lot to drop on the Lanboy, especially if your not going to be going to a lot of LAN parties or need a portable case. And I agree it is hard to find a good looking and good cooling case, I was looking at the HAF series originally but they're just so ugly looking IMO I sacrificed some cooling/compatibility for the Phantom.

Really considering the EVO right now. Just looks good and has a lot of room from what I have read and it's got some really good reviews. and with the changes I already made to the rest of the rig with shipping and tax it would be only $1126.63.

Which means I could probably get a 570 and still be within $1200!? I'll check that out.

Ok so with this build I can keep it under $1200. Would I need a better mobo for a GPU like this since it is higher end than my other choices were or will this be fine?

Went with a more powerful PSU as well for extra safety.

Case: NZXT TEMPEST EVO | $109.99

PSU: SILVERSTONE Strider Plus ST75F-P 750w | $129.99

MoBo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 | $124.99

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K | $219.99

HSF: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212+ | $26.99

GPU: EVGA Superclocked GeForce GTX 570 | $349.99

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600MHz (Red) | $51.99

HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM | $59.99

ODD: LITE-ON iHAS-324 | $20.99

Total with shipping and taxes $1199.87
