Question about memory compatibility

Thread Starter
I am thinking of buying memory module that is not listed in the qualified vendors list. Do you think i might have problems or it is safe and even if not listed doesn't mean it is incompatible?

It means the manufacturer didnt specifically test that brand/configuration (It's not practical to test all the possible memory modules). The qualified list means the manufacturer guarantees that it works, if you don't use memory on the list you dont have that guarantee.

As long as it's the correct type it will likely work without problems. However if you have a problem and attempt to contact the motherboard manufacturer technical support, they may refuse to assist you because you are using an unsupported configuration.

By "correct type" you mean the right memory speed (1333, 1666)? voltage? single sided or double sided? I have the Sabertooth 990FX and it seems strange that Asus has listed only a few 4GB models instead of many 2x2GB.
