force 3 ssd unable to locate minidump

Thread Starter
so im getting a BSOD 7a

memtest checks out on memory and it was suggested it was my ssd

rather then just arbitrarily RMA'ing the ssd im wondering if anyone can maybe help me locate my minidump file or fix it so its saved somewhere else on my ssd

i dont know much about this kind of thing

also a new firmware came out 1.3.2 so if anyone HAS this drive maybe they can tell me if this firmware was a fix to maybe such an issue as this BSOD only happened very recently and possibly around the time in updated firmware tho i cannot be certain... paranoia makes me think as such

You won't find your dump file. When the ssd does the classic bsod, nothing can be written to it. Even putting the dump file to another drive does not help. Been there, tried all of it.

You should update to latest firmware. There is no guaranteed fix but since you are having issues with the current firmware, it should be updated.

After the bsod occurs, can the drive be seen in bios without a complete shutdown and restart?

When the bsod occurs, if you restart normally, the drive won't be seen when you boot up. It'll tell you that boot manager is missing and won't load windows.

If this isn't the case, it may be another issue not the drive.

er what is the normal restart method? am i missing something lol?

or when you say normal do you mean using the auto restart function where as my method of having it not auto restart be not normal?

im using the ssd as we speak btw. my HDD had the bootmgr missing that i had to use windows repair with but i havent used the HDD in a long time tho i always wondered why it happened and i suppose its possible this is a result of a hard drive problem as you claim

a while ago i asked why i wasnt able to see my hdd in bios with my ssd as i was prev able to and twocables informed me that this was normal but i still felt that it wasnt... currently i can choose to see my ssd OR my hdd even if both are being used. i can access them once in windows and save files to them but only 1 can be seen at a time in BIOS

should i be seeing in the bios both hard drives and my optical drive and then i am able to choose the order they boot in?

if i CANT see one of the drives is that a sign it is a hard drive problem? if then it IS a hard drive problem why am i able to use my ssd fine up untill my BSOD which happens maybe 1 time every 24 hours as well as my HDD. they both boot individually and run windows and starcraft and other things tho the HDD is actually kind of choppy and frequently has programs that stop responding.

i know im throwing out a lot of things and its kind of hard to understand possibly all of it but basically know that they both boot windows

i havent been able to produce a BSOD 7a off my HDD by itself because using it is very very bothersome with all the constant lack of responding programs

the ssd will boot back up no problem after the 7a BSOD and it seems to still work and is fast

memory checks out with memtest so what would you recommend as the next step to finding out the BSOD problem

Ok, look at it like this. The system will restart itself when the bsod occurs. Normally, if this is the drive's fault, it won't reload windows. It will give you a boot manager missing message on the screen.

Now if you just reboot the machine, the drive won't reset itself and remain frozen.

You have to shut the machine down completely, wait a few seconds then restart it. This cold boot method will bring the ssd back.

If that scenario is not happening to you, it may not be the ssd.
