I'm not trying to hate, there's just better deals out there for the price/performance you could get.
You don't have to use a full cover on every GPU. It has a separate heatsink for the RAM chips and VRM like the normal lightning so a universal block is only needed. The VRM is pretty hefty so as long as you keep a breeze over the heatsink it should be fine.

I find it funny how people are arguing that a card that was never built for the best price/performance is not the best price/performance card available. This card was built to perform under LN2, it should be compared to the ASUS MATRIX or EVGA Classified variants.

On a side note, I think Newegg Open Box shouldn't be used as a viable source for deals on highly sought after GPUs. Even if you camp in front of your computer 24/7, it's still like trying to win a lottery.

When you go cheap all that goes out the door. I don't think Newegg Cares that your purchased the card for 280 when another customer can purchase 2 of the same cards at full price without breaking a sweat... or actually here is my example for you.

Pwned...
how is that "pwned"

Open box is the same thing, except better. You pay 1/2 the price, normally get the exact same components, and if it is broken on arrival just RMA it with MSI.

Stop comparing a 3gb card to a 1.5gb one pricewise - you're also comparing a card with the horrible ref cooler to a substantially better cooler designed for overclocking enthusiasts.

380 is HARDLY the going price for a 1.5gb 580, maybe 450$+ - yeah go ahead and order the Zotac off microcenters website. Notice how its out of stock? Yeah glhf with that, order it and get it 2 months later.

Have fun.

Thats super sound reasoning. Truth is, the lightning OC's way better without getting up to 95C (hello trash reference fan!) like the typical EVGA card does.
