1 6990, 1 GTX 590, or 6970/570 Crossfire/SLI?

Thread Starter
Um...yeah its all in the title. At first I was gonna definitepy go with the 6990 and get another one later on, but now I'm a bit skeptical about it because :
1. I read that its really loud...and I can't do watercooling
2. I read Crossfire 6970s give better performance...but then again that's 1 more PCI slot I'm taking up, therefore giving me less space for a future upgrade

When I read that the 6990 was loud and saw videos on it, I started to wonder if I should just go with the GTX 590 because its quieter and cooler. The GTX 570 idea SLI just can from the 6970 crossfire idea . Which do u guys think I should choose?

if you can get a 590 with beefy VRM's than go that way...

6970's are definitely faster. The 590 is an earthmover but is pricey. Not interested in a 580 sli ?

*edit* 6970's faster than a 6990. I don't want to start a flame war. I have no idea how they stack up against a 590.

both the 590 and 6990 are amazing, but i recommend getting the 590 (its always quite and uses less power)

http://www.hwcompare.com/9822/geforc...xelrateExplain

ATI gives you more performance per dollar, nVidia gives you better performance for a higher price. If you have money to spend, go nVidia. If you're on a budget, go ATI.

Its a never ending war between the Nvidia/ATI lovers.... i use both brands and recommend both brands ... its whatever fits your budget and specs.

GTX 590 vs 6990? Which has better performance? What are the Pros/Cons .... it can be debate forever and has many threads on OCN.

I say just go with either one you want ... whatever you feel like that day... both cards will do you wonders and will give you the same amazing performance you desire.

Enjoy your games and not worry too much about your hardware as both cards will give you the jaw dropping graphics you want =)

I would likely suggest a nice 6950 Crossfire setup. Fantastic performance per dollar. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten the 6950's. The value is tremendous imo.
