I have not. I didn't read your sig and I have no idea about the block you have, but I'd be willing to bet that the XSPC Raystorm will outperform it on both the thermal and restriction fronts.

ok i mentioned this earlier in this thread.

I have the Kryos HF .925 silver edition CPU block
post #23 of 34
I'm willing to bet that the temp difference will be less than .5 degrees C. The Kryos HF is a good block, and while slightly more restrictive, so long as you've good contact with the included TIM (PK-1) the difference in temp will really be within any reasonable margin of error out there and I don't know of an actual test on the silver edition of the block. Keep what you have as you've got one of the 3 or 4 best water blocks made for the AM3 socket (and if you think the silver edition isn't good enough I'll trade you my copper one for it :-p).

I do have to ask if you're planning on WC the graphic cards as well though. If so than you'll have to look into external mounting as a mandatory step - and I'd recommend it regardless.

Look at this thread for a picture representation of what I'd suggest: http://www.overclock.net/case-mods-g...tor-mount.html
I would just mount a 120.2 radiator off the back of the case - no internal mounting unless it'll fit off the front with room for the video cards.

If you're doing CPU only, I'd suggest hitting up Sidewinder Computers, getting a PA120.2 + 2x 1/2in barbs on clearance, a D5 Vario pump, use your current Silver waterblock, Primochill 7/16 tubing, a reservoir of whatever type you want + kill coil. Source out a few AP-15 fans and call it good. If you want a 360 radiator get the RX360 and same idea - just mount it externally and enjoy the overkill factor. For restriction you will not have to worry about it for CPU only loop so long as you are over 1gpm of flow which the D5 can do easily. Use the thick o-ring for your Kryos HF for the added thermal benefits.

One thing that no one has mentioned here is the Aquacomputer Kryos .925 edition. It's a block made with a silver base that has much better thermal conductivity than any other block on the market. There aren't any reviews that I know of other than little ones from members on the forum that own them due to the $240 price tag on the cpu block. From the few members that have it on the site they've found around a 3C difference between it and the Kryos XT, the previously best block thermally and just over that with the EK Supreme HF and CPU 370.

If you're looking for a setup that will definitely cool what you need to then look at my build log. It can cool a 1500watt setup with a water/air delta of <3C. Most rigs can only cool 150-200 watts to a 10C water/air delta. Hope it'll give you some ideas on where to start. If you were to just cool a cpu with that setup you'd be looking at a water/air delta of <1C. Since money is no option I say go for it. You're easily looking at around ~$1000 in rads to get a water/air delta that low if you want the setup to be "quiet."

the op already has the Kryos HF .925 silver edition CPU block, so the only thing will be if the cpu can get to 5ghz as mentioned b4 not all can, mine for instance will not get stable above 48x no matter what vcore I use

Your build - that is just sickening to my sorry broke rear end.... I *want* a build like that :-p

Back on topic: I knew his block was going to be better, but without any reviews I didn't realize the Silver edition was up to 3C better though... with the included PK-1 it will be basically the best possible water block for Bulldozer without question and as I said above, as long as you're doing CPU only, you'll be just fine with keeping low temps. More radiator if possible will allow you to use quieter fans if you desire OP - all depends on what you wish to do thermally & financially. If you really want to go overkill for bulldozer, snag a case similar to Fat Italian Stallions (MM, DD if its available, or I recommend the Case Labs style case) and you can mount radiators internally with ease.

The one i got IS the Kryos HF .925 Silver Edition. I hope i got the one your talking about. I bought it off Aquatuning.com it was the most expensive block for the AM3 socket CPU's 289.99. I dont remember reading anything about a silver base. I figured if it says "Silver Edition" than that must be the one. Am i right?

Fat Italian Stallion! Nice of you to drop by on this thread!

You and i think alike when it comes to building Rigs

Just wanted to let you know i am going to ditch my ANTEC 1200 case and get me a CaseLabs Case instead!
I was looking at the TH10 series case. Do you have a better case in mind? Im looking for the best temps and raw peformance aswell but how loud is this build you are showing me?

Thats the only thing holding me back from getting rads like the GTX 560 is the noise levels. But at the same time i want the coldest temps possible.

Your Rig looks fantastic by the way.

Hey Stallion!
I see that your rig has the PSU Silverstone Strider Series 1500w! this is the one i bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256054

I did not know there was a low noise version. Is the one i have really that loud? If i had known they had this one, i would of bought instead.

I dont remember reading anything about a silver base. I figured if it says "Silver Edition" than that must be the one. Am i right?
That is the exact block I was talking about. Best block on the market thermally by far, but it's a good bit more restrictive than the supreme hf.

It's actually not loud at all (I jumped it to test the fans). If you get high quality fans (noiseblockers or gts) and have a relatively insulated case (thick sides or use sound dampening foam). It's just a very light hum that you barely notice even when its beside you.

That's the same one I have. It's not loud at all. I can't even hear it over the fans when they're running at 900rpm in my sig rig, granted I do have tons of sound dampening. Didn't know there was a low noise version, but the normal is great. Would be nice to have PC Power & Cooling make a 1500 watt.
