Display freezes, ati radeon 6950

Okay, so I oc'd my ati radeon hd 6950.

my oc was 880/1370. After about 2 minutes of playing bf3 beta the game froze. It was not internet, so i ctrl alt deleted, ended bf3 process and tried again . This time I had to hold the buttown down to turn off my system andcould not ctrl alt delete.

I then lowered to 855/1345, about 15 mhz higher per core/memory than the max factory overclock.

After about 7 minutes my display had froze and had to do a hard restart again.

I don't understand it but it seems my card just doesn't like to be pushed over the factory overclock, and I also don't want to brick my card.

The temp was fine and was below 70 C. Also no artifacts happened either. Also performed fine during benchmarks with no artifacts and no temp. spikes.

The game seemed to be running fine but the above problems happened.
I then put it to max factory overclock (840/1325) settings and it was completely stable, played for 2-3 hours without any problems.

What is my problem here?

Do I need to increase my cards voltage??

Likely just a crappy clocker.
Did you enable the +20% power setting?

Which brand?

I used MSIafterburner.

amd catalyst control center is the overclock with the limitations but I havent been using that one since I downloaded MSI and altered the files that allowed me to go past the factor set limitations.

My current oc is 900/1375 @ 1150mv. Had to bump a little voltage for stability...

yea, I was doing 865/1345 on metro 2033 and it was running with about a 3-4 fps increase from stock and was noticeably smoother. (up from mid 20's)

I then tried your settings with 1.12v, because I have stable Burn-in tests with them, but about 2 minutes into a level with these settings metro froze and I had to ctrl alt delete out.

My temps showed normal with misafterburner monitor, and no artifacts showed up during the game. It just doesn;t seem to work well for me when overclocked.

Also tried out bf3 beta with similar settings, screen didnt even load, then ctd, had to ctrl alt delete to close the process.
