Crossfire Questions

Thread Starter
Ok So Right now my rig has a 6970 and crossfire x16 x4 capability I'm wondering if I should just throw in a second 6970 in x4 mode or upgrade to an am3+ socket motherboard with x16 x16 will performance be severely impacted because of the x4?

I've read that anything under x8 will have a serious impact on performance. Even x8 won't be as good as x16 (obviously). I just picked up an am3+ board yesterday with 2 x16s for $150. Seems like a reasonably priced upgrade imo.

There is barely a difference b/w 16x and 8x atm, but at 4x you do lose a lot of performance. I suggest you upgrade.
