GTX 580 now or wait for Kepler? - Page 3

dont wait, see i am waiting for 2011 platform to come so once they come out i will have to wait for asus to make a republic of gamer extreme motherboard for the 2011 platform and that will be a long time to come, soooo for now i said screw all that i am getting another 580 for 3 way sli, i will be able to rape bf3 and future games to come and i think developers will try to copy bf3 engine so they can make their games as powerfull as bf3. dont wait any longer and enjoy have fun with what we have now, also give time to the new stuff to have the bugs worked out.

TRI SLI 580s with only 1.5Gb of VRAM is way more processing power than is needed for that amount of VRAM, what can't you do with 2 of them that you think you'd be able to do with three? That includes "future proofing", you're no more future proof with 3 than you are with 2.

These 580's will last you two+ more years, so stick with them, get it if you can.

Go for the 580. My sig rig is my first desktop and I'm incredibly impressed with how many pixels these cards can push per second. (Crysis 2 w/ high res textures and DX11 MAXED out at 5760x1080 at 40 fps is awesome). You won't be disappointed

Just get a 580. They are still plenty in their prime, and there is almost no news on Kepler.

Just get the 580. You're pretty fine with it, and the kepler will cost much more(not to mention that they delayed its release even more to 2Q-3Q of 2012). You don't need anything better than a 580. In the next year when you may need more, you add another 580 and you're good for 2 more years. By then, nvidia will probably be launching a new series of geforce (name it "kepler 2") and you can get that. The only reason for waiting for kepler is because you have 3 monitors, and you want to max out all games with unnecessary 32x AA and want to play with 3D Vision Surrounding.

At least that's my philosophy.

Thread Starter
Pretty much settled on the 580 now.

Now got to decide on which 3gb card to get.
The Palit GeForce, Zotac ZT-50103-10P or the Gainward GTX 580 "Phantom".

I say 580 now then SLI when next gen comes out because you know the 580 will be just as power if not more powerful than a "670." Also the waiting game gets us no where.
