Calling people "ungrateful" is not an insult - he specifically thanked those who provided feedback, and asked others to "grow up" for the way they were reacting. That's not insulting; that's calling it how you see it. Prospective buyers or not, he has every right to stand up for a product he and his team represents and vice versa, especially on the basis that what people are reacting to immaturely is an unpolished and unfinished product.

This is a Beta; the Community Manager was correct in his statement that the Beta is a PRIVILEGE; it is NOT a right. DICE benefits from it, sure, but we all know that probably less than 10% of Beta participants will even provide any constructive feedback, and given that the build is already 4-8 weeks behind the Beta, a lot of the obvious bugs and glitches have already been addressed.

And if I walked into an Apple Store and Steve Jobs told me I was holding one of the FINISHED display products wrong while shopping (calling it how he sees it), I would probably thank him for helping me not to look like a complete idiot the whole time i'm there. And I happen to hate Apple.

It's the same way that people are making assumptions about the Beta build now; they're calling it how they see it. Nevermind the plethora of resources that state that the build IS buggy, IS unfinished, etc. or the fact that all we have to do is wait another 3 weeks to make some honest judgments about the final product.

But nope. Reserving judgment until the final release is out is way too hard for most people. Again, better to pretend we all know everything, because we all work for and represent DICE apparently.
DICE are the ingrates. They should be GRATEFUL people are taking time out of their lives to beta test their buggy games.

DICE should be greatful they still have fans after they release garbage game after garbage game. Bad Company 2 was a paid beta test for over a year.

Arrogant companies like DICE should shove it.

all u really need to do is have a forum for only constructive criticism enforced by a admin just like this one. and even though it'd take a lot of work to sort through all the new threads at least they could learn a thing or two about what people want.

the current state of the battlelog forum is chaos, thousands of threads going in all directions, what you need is a standardized poll or a questionnaire or way to list issues as well as potential features.

i spent about an hour this weekend writing up some constructive criticism but i'm pretty sure it got overlooked in the millions of threads.

I thought that by the time games were in Open Beta stage that it would be at least 95% done and that they were just testing for bugs and exploits. Guess not.

Its a beta, not a demo,

you are playing to find any glitches or bugs and report them

people are treating this like a demo "need more maps!", ill bet the majority of them dont even participate in bug ans glitch reporting, they just play for fun which isnt the point of beta which is what this is

Last time I checked people were drooling to get their hands on the beta so no, its their choice. DICE should have made this a closed beta right from the getgo. Too many people running around ranting....

Also Did you just tell me I have to go out and spend time beta testing so I can have the game optimized for my pc?

What am I paying 60 bucks for than?
It is THEIR job to get the game working on systems NOT mine.

Also did you just read any of my other posts? I said I have no problem with beta, the only thing I am complaining about is squad management.
It is their job to make it the best looking/best experience first person shooter possible. It is your job to keep up with necessary hardware requirements. It is so much that a game can be optimized before up-to-date hardware reqs kick in.

Wish companies would learn that open beta = a bunch of idiots who think they're playing a finished product, but getting to play it a little early.

Seriously, they need to stop doing these for games in this type of community.

An open beta with an extreme amount of flaws less than a month before release is pretty upsetting to see. People have the right to complain, they're just complaining about the absolute wrong things.

Yeah, except for all the people out there like me who have thoroughly enjoyed BC2 and found it to be a fantastic game. Stop acting like your opinions are fact....

Which was my point.

A good majority of the community for games like Battlefield do not understand what they are partaking in when they join a Beta. They find that there are few maps and some restrictions as to what they see/can do, and act as if those are the problems. They should be reporting the bugs and the glitches, not the fact that they are unhappy with the free things that they are receiving.

I have barely even played a DICE game, so I can't comment on how the BF3 beta is itself, but I'm sick of hearing about all of the beta testing crap from all of the games in beta lately. No game is perfect at launch anymore, it's just a thing that happens now that you can patch the game frequently. It's unfortunate, but the game will likely be released with a LOT of flaws because the publisher pushing the game wants their money, and don't care much if the game is perfected.

Would like to see an indie publisher push more games to perfection so I can stop hearing all the whining about unfinished products.
