You aren't missing anything. My opinion on the beta.

-Lots o' bugs.
-Hitboxes, what are those?
-Looks nice, even on lowest settings without AA/AF.
-Rush mode sucks, but it's a nice change of pace I guess. /shrug
-Lots of whiners.
-A real Battlefield beta test should have vehicles. Ground transports/tanks/jets is what makes Battlefield unique. EA and DICE have lost a little bit of business (pre-orders and those on the fence) by not releasing the beta on a regular conquest style map. Trivial, I know.......but still a bad business move.
-Disappointing about no commander, lack of squad options in-game (battlelog, yuck), and can only change settings or bind keys when alive.
-Deathcam of the guy's face who killed me? QUE?

I'm probably still going to buy it, but I won't take the beta seriously and you shouldn't even try and play it. You may become jaded like some of us have.

All I can say is LOL.

I have so far enjoyed the beta. There were plenty of bugs, crashes, and network issues to irritate me, but I'm not going to nerdrage all over the internet. There was a post on the ea forums concerning how far along the development of this beta is compared to the actual game, and the community manager said that it is a 4 month old build of the game. Its great that they have a more developed version of the game, and from what they have said it fixes a lot of the issues people have with hitboxes, network lag, bullet damage while moving, clipping, etc.

If you have that more developed version, why not use it for open beta? It would seem that the data received from this beta will be less useful than if it was the current build of the game. Does EA not realize that any casual player who just wanted to jump in on beta is going to be turned off by the bugs in this build they are running?

Granted, this is off topic. /End rant.
We may pay them money, but they're the ones with 30 developers working on a game for 1-2 straight years scripting a game that can never reach anyone's expectations. My brother is a developer, and works very strenuous hours on monotonous portions of games - it's not pleasant.

Our expectations aren't any lower than they used to be, the developers just have less time as the games can be pushed out the door and fixed up later. DICE has little say in the release date - so they can only do what they can within their limits, and budget.

I'm cool with having Rush as an option, because yes I do like Rush from time to time....but UGH I want to play CONQUEST on Battlefield 3
Well, you will be able to do so when the full game comes out.

This is not a demo.

And you know why he works a monotonous job? Because the dev that he works for cares more about the game looking good than the gameplay. It's sad, imo.

Or you can get on the few hacked servers with conquest, although it's at the users risk.
