If you are a tester for an automobile's safety features, would you only do crashes from the front and ignore the rest of the car? No, that's BS. You would test every single aspect of the car, and make sure that there are no design flaws which could compromise the safety of the vehicle. This beta is retarded because it only allows us to see 10% of what the game actually is. There a stupendous amount of feature which we have not even tested.
Difference being the automobile manufacture is partially responsible for the lives of its customers. There is absolutely no reason for Dice to release any part of there product to you before release. I'm sure they have things covered my friend, it's not like they don't have the capacity to do in-house testing. I agree it is frustrating to not get a sneak preview of the truly awesome aspects of what battlefield is all about, but acting like it's a big deal that the public doesn't get to test the "entire" game before they release it is absurd.

Wait, wow. Just....wow.

I don't know what strange world you live in, but there is NO WAY an open beta is going to give access to every single element of a game being tested.

Open beta's (traditionally) give access to an element of a game (in most recent cases multiplayer) so that people can beta test things like the networking code, overall graphics engine, etc. Open beta's usually don't bring extreme graphics, the best map or even the best concepts to they table. They bring enough to get you to try it, hopefully provide some feedback and get you excited enough from the glimpse that you want the game.

I hate to say it, but PC gamers (or at least the squeakiest of them, the squeaky ones could well be a vocal minority) are among the most elitist, whiny and ungrateful humans roaming the face of the earth. I really feel like we are going to get to a point with devs/publishers give us the collective bird and just stop doing open beta testing.

And that REALLY sucks for PC gamers, given our wide variety of configurations and hardware. We NEED developers to do open betas, but yet we act like spoiled children when things don't go right (or in most cases, they just don't go the way WE wanted them to).

Why can't I complain about squad not working the way millions want it to be?

Also why would you release a beta that you claim you fixed most of the bugs on there, maybe you could share what you fixed so we don't whine!!!!

I don't mind the metro map, granted its beta, but to the people say its a privilege to play in beta you obviously don't know how business work.

You want me to download your buggy game, test it for you and report bugs for free so you can have a bug free release?

open beta testing should have never been an option in the first place.

Wrong my friend. Open beta is the only way they can test out their system across millions of type of networks and systems. We are doing the QA for them without being paid, and they call it a privilege.

Here is the thing though, most of us are whining about squad mang., and the new web based server browser. Yes sometimes they don't work since we are in beta, but even when they do work as intended they don't appeal to gamers so why can't we whine about that?

Yea sorry but if you don't think it's a privilege you obviously don't know how the video gaming business works. The beta doesn't magically come made the way it does, it takes man hours AWAY from the final release. They create betas to make sure the game is solid and bug free, they could release the game with a bunch of bugs then later patch it and it would probably sell just as well.
