I'm too lazy to google every review and test 6990 vs 590 and prove you wrong. but i think i have some youtube videos around like :[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAYQ3TzOlb8]This[/ame]
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjh8zerBbs8]and that[/ame]

So I lol at you for coming with 1 proof when 8 our of 9 review sites say the same thing.

BF3 bends my 580 over and gives it pretty good...

I don't want to run dual GPU setups for the various drawbacks (don't like microstutter and input lag), so games like BF3 only make me ever more anxious for Southern Islands and Kepler. Luckily for most everything else the 580 is still on the giving end of the bending over, but its not as much fun to compromise and turn settings down.

And why give up the 580 ? I did read this before posting and have to tell you that playing at 120hz ( 60fps ) is perfect. Human eye doesn't distinguish between 60 fps or 200 fps. What's more then 60 fps it cannot distinguish. So why give up your 580 when you won't possibly see a difference in games or movies ?

The reason why I want to possibly go to an ATI card is because the monitor I am using, the new samsung sa23950d has 2 modes for its tri def 3d. One mode is frame sequential and the other is side by side, with frame sequential aiming towards ATI cards and side by side towards Nvidia+ATI. Now from what I hear frame sequential mode is superior in 3D peformance to Side by Side mode, so I would want to keep my options open basically.

Superior yes , as in getting more fps. But as i said nvidia pulls 60fps ( more but it's capped by side by side mode ). So it's as smooth as you would be at 100 fps on sequential. But since 580 is the fastest GPU atm i wouldn't trade it for an ati just to go over the 60 fps cap. This is my own personal opinion. If you decide to go Ati you can get a 6990 or two 6970s. Before i get hate ^ _ ^ you can go dual 6950s 2gb and unlock them ( yes , not all unloackable, find wich ones are, for example Toxic 6950s are ).

6970 is closest. And yes, it does beat out a GTX 580 in some titles. And no, it doesn't have tessellation problems, that was the 5XXX series. Not all 6950's can unlock to 6970's, especially after AMD found out it was being used so much. Even with cards that are touted to unlock fully, there is no guarantee. If you buy a 6950 in hopes it will unlock, your buying it for the wrong reason.

What AMD has going for it is when more than one monitor is hooked up. 2Gb over 1.5Gb is a nice advantage (unless you have a 3Gb GTX 580).

You can always overclock to match performance more.

im sorry to burst your bubble but you can totally tell the difference between 120hz and 60hz. once you get a 120hz monitor you can't go back to a 60hz one.

No bursting done there don't worry. Well before i speak i always ( almost anyways ) document myself and according to publications i said what i said. I do not own a 120hz monitor so i can't speak from personal opinion. If you do then thanks for enlightening me. And i still stand by the Nvidia 580 instead of an Ati unless it's Ati 6990.

Depends, if you had a crappy 60Hz monitor with a huge response time then yes. In reality, anything above 30FPS is not noticeable, in fact many games on the consoles and even PC are locked at 30FPS.

Do you have any proof of pc games locked at 30 fps ?
