Asus P5QC replacement

Thread Starter
After having a lot of issues and headaches with the ASUS P5QC compatibility with my 4Gb DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1333mhz, i decided to change the mobo. I need some suggestions of good 755socket, DDR3 1333mhz motherboards.

Thanks.

They are hard to find. Since the P5QC also works with DDR2 you should instead look for 4GB DDR2. I know KingT in these forums have a P5QC and using 4GB DDR2 with no issue. He has even overclocked it pretty far.

Well it's an option, but there are not any ddr2 ram running on more than 1060mhz, and i managed to stabilize my DDR3 memory on 1060mhz to get very few crashes but i wanted to go on 1333mhz with the memory, and having the corsair xms3 which is a pretty good memory, i thought it may be a better option to change the mobo. I found some motherboards on my local pc shops and the prices are under, or at least the same as a new pair of rams.

So still looking for a mobo, i need some names of quality mobos biggrin.gif

Well... You won't notice any difference because of that RAM speed..

Yeah just run DDR2 memory,it works perfectly fine..

I run my Kingston HyperX 1066MHz CL5 2x2GB kit @ 920MHz and I stil have 9GB/s memory bandwidth..

I'm in process of transfering to DDR3 RAM (Kingston HyperX 1600MHz CL9 2x4GB kit KHX1600C9D3/4G) ..

I will see if I manage to stabilize it ot any speed (I might run it @ 920MHz CL5 for 460MHz FSB)..

Simply I need more RAM than 4GB and I would do anything, even if it means to run a 1600MHz DDR3 ram at speed of my current DDR2..

If I don't manage to stabilize it then I will simply return it..

P.S.: Try to get Kingston Value RAM 1333MHz 4GB modules (KVR1333D3N9/4G) as Kingston says that it's 100% compatible with P5QC motherboard.. CLICK HERE..

Good luck..

i think i will try that kingston and i will go for the 8gb. But I use my computer for gaming and soon my new video card which i ordered will arrive ( gtx 570 GLH), since there are no heatsinks on it, won't it overheat?

Those DDR3 modules work @ 1.65V so they would not overheat..wink.gif

Also Kingston says that their HyperX 1600MHz 4GB modules (KHX1600C9D3/4G) which I'm getting as well, could work on this P5QC.. CLICK HERE..

But they don't say that officially as their HyperX series are not guarantied to work at rated speed on all systems..

So you're saying that i could run up to 8gb DDR3 at 1600mhz on my P5QC which in the manual says that it cannot support more than 1333mhz?

Just like I said,Kingston does not guarantee that any of their HyperX would work at rated speed on all systems, but the do list them as compatible wit P5QC..

I would say it's worth a shot as they have heatsinks, they can run @ 1600MHz with CL8 timings easily and can hit up to 2000MHz CL9 (I have seen review)..

And if they don't run @ 1600MHz they could easily hit 1333MHz CL7 or even CL6.. (and they are good for future upgrade to Sandy Bridge or AMD Buldozer)..

P.S.: P5QC does support 1600MHz DDR3 ram (check QVL list which I have uploaded but it's very old so there are few modules listed)

From where did you get that pdf? I got this from here http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5QC/#MSL and it's completly a different thing.

Even though there is listed the 2x2gb, I don't see anything about the 2x4gb as i want to go to 8gb.
