Fanboy!! Haha so if you don't play RTS games then AMD is all you need. I'm good then.

Intel is not needed for gaming is the point. Computers are not only used for games though. Thats when Intels flexes its muscles.

I put all settings as high as they would go on my sig rig and it runs pretty damn good. In the real game with airplanes and stuff flying around i will most likely have to settle for high/ultra without AA but that is fine by me

The 2600k with HT off and the 965 have not so different raw processing power (GFLOPS wise) so it's logical that they score similar performance on a well optimised graphics engine.

That means the engine requieres power for the physics to be calculated and for the GPU to be driven. Graphics to the GPU, physics and other stuff to the CPU.

To each his own, they say.

And as I say, we play games, not benchmarks. A 965 is more than enough.

The 2500k allows for higher overclocks, it is still a worthwhile upgrade.

that is IFF you overclock. Most end users don't .

I am mightily proud of the 965 though . However, I love my 2500K to the death because on CPU-intensive games the difference in their processing power will be made manifest. And of course, in other CPU-intensive tasks.
The point still remains though that for the average user, the difference is negligible for day-to-day use
