Go read with the BF3 Official Information thread. Everyone with 1.5GB - 3GB cards is seeing VRAM usage hovering around 1400MB which is substantially higher than 1GB.
Thanks for the info. I just got used to telling people they won't need more than 1gb for 1080p. I guess bf3 is pushing the limit with all the AA and stuff.

And I also feel comfertable with the Asus also since I trust that brand the most, where as the gigabyte ive never used and all.

So everything I have is good right?
Compatible and everything?

And should I change to 2gb then?
Yes, change to 2GB. There is absolutely no reason not to for the miniscule price difference.

Search the BF3 Information Thread (http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/85...on-thread.html) for "VRAM" and you will get plenty of people saying that the beta is using 1.4GB of VRAM. The final release will probably use more considering that the beta doesn't include the high-res texture packs.

BF3 is among the first in a new generation of games which show that 1GB is no longer what it used to be.

That's a good looking rig! If playing BF3 is your concern you should check these links out before you choose your GPU.

I would not hold a grain of salt to what that first benchmark shows. They don't mention settings or specific clock speeds for the GPU's, along with running a on a completely different platform than 1155.

Benchmarks for BF3 are just speculation right now - the graphics in the beta are not really representative of the release game. One thing for sure though is that 1GB is not enough at 1080p.

I agree 100% however, it does give you some idea of the approximate performance of various GPU's in BF3

Gigabyte and ASUS have about equal market share, and just the two of them together have about 70% of the motherboard market. They are the two largest companies, and any board from either of them will be "good" boards. No reason to spend $70 more on one over the other. Even if you really want ASUS, look through the combo deals with the CPU and there are plenty of mobo options that will end up a lot cheaper.

Also, MSI has gotten very good over the last couple years. Asrock's high end stuff is pretty decent now as well.

Just saying there is no reason to overlook the other options that save money based off of brand name.

Alright guys.. I decided I want to go for an i5 instead of an i7 now.
And possibly change the case to a midtower? Not sure..
I've seen people have less than $1,300 build that might even be as good as the one I have lol

But do you think I will need that i7 in the future?
Will 8 cores in the future even be used?
