QX9650 or Q9650 - Page 2

Sorry, I forgot to mention I have already ordered a EVGA GTX580 Superclocked! I'm currently bidding on a QX9650 ($260 max bid) I'm not going to increase my bid but if I get outbid I will probably just build a Z68 & 2600K rig but was hoping to avoid that credit card debt....hense the GTX580 & upgrading my CPU. I am also looking at possibly getting a 65MB M4 SSD & loading Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit to my current rig, along with my new 580 of course. Thoughts?

That being said what MB & RAM recommendations for the 2600K?

For MB I have been looking at the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3, ASRock Z68 EXTREME4 GEN3 & ASRock Z68 EXTREME7 GEN3, I really like Asus boards, I am happy with my current Gigabyte, & I have never owned a ASRock (I belive is owned by ASUS?)

For RAM I have would like 16GB, & have been looking at:

I would go with the G.Skills but that is just my opinion.
Both should be fine.
And like the others said: Get a i5.
I have two mates one has the X and one had the normal 9650 (he went i5).
Both would also say to you that going i5 is way better.

No thoughts on MB?

Memory is same price so it really doesn't matter to me, however I have used Corsair memory in the past & have never had an issue with it. I have never used G.Skill.

I really don't understand the 2500K recommendation over the 2600K? I haven't seen any real benefit other than $95 price difference. Am I missing something?
