Cheap mechanical keyboard?

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
Could anybody recommend a cheap mechanical keyboard for less than £30, or do they not exist? I'm extremely interested in a mechanical keyboard but do not have the money for a top of the range one and my current one is dying on me. Thanks.

Mechanical = quality.
Quality = money.

:-/

Try buying a used one off eBay. Other than that, you will have to pay a pretty penny.

Maybe a used IBM keyboard on ebay? It will probably need a LOT of cleaning though. Here's a refurb Model M. It's a very good keyboard but the look is very old school...

Aw alright, that really sucks. Suppose I've got a lot of saving up to do.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'd cry if I had that in front of me - thanks anyway. Doesn't appeal to me and it says it's made in 1992 also? D:

Made in 92 and still kicking. That says something about it's quality.

But you can always get a unicomp customizer or spacesaver if you want something new

I'd really save up that way you can get yourself a nice mech keyboard!

You can take a look at this thread, lots of nice mechanical keyboards listed for you to choose from.

Compaq MX11800's (Cherry MX Brown) and Dell AT101W's (Black ALPs) can typically be found in that price range on ebay.

Edit: Here's a Dell AT101W in that price range.

Thanks all for the posts... To the people who linked and mentioned the keyboards which are in my price range, I'm afraid they're really not for me - I can't stand how... chunky they look, but I guess that's the disadvantage of a low budget. Thanks again all, I'll have to either save up for a better keyboard or just go with one of these.

And it will still be working in 2032.

I have one of those, made in 1994. Won't use anything else.
