Keep in mind that gaming generally utilizes ~5-20 KB/sec of bandwidth.
There isn't a huge requirement to support the vast majority of gaming environments.

Can't go wrong with any of the top 10 on this list.

WRT54GL if you want open-source firmware and do fun stuff with routers, anything else is stuff you may want like Wireless-N if you have that many devices that utilize it, gigabit ports if you have a lot of interconnected stuff in the house, stuff like that. I personally look for routers featuring quality of service so I can automate network resources to games when I'm not torrenting. Not required for most people though.

TL;DR Just about any router made by a reputable company like Linksys or Netgear or D-Link is fine

Linksys E-3000 if you want to utilize Dual-band.

Linksys E-2000 if not.

I own the E-3000 using Tomato firmware and it's very reliable and QUICK!
