I7 950 + Coolmaster 212+ OC questions.

Thread Starter
Note: I posted it in the air cooling forum but i think i might have posted in the wrong place as this is more about overclocking more or less http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...questions.html please delete. Thanks

I wanted to ask is it normal for my 100% loads to be up around 77-80 degrees (C)? (tested with prime95) it was higher with cores 1 and 2, cores 3 and 4 were 2-4 degrees lower.

My next question is am I able to push my cpu further without my temps getting too high with this Heat sync (looking to get to 4.2-4.5ghz)?

Last question I is, is my 212 meant to be really tight on my cpu? I ask this because when I put it on I have too really push it in to get the screws to align.

I think my main issue is I need to reapply the thermal paste because i may not have apply it properly as I didn't really read much into it when I got my PC. (I put it together in april)

I'm currently running my i7 950 at 3.8ghz at 1.2v
Im using a lancool k62 case

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Regards

Stomii

It's normal for your cores two a few degrees off from the others.

4.2ghz is going to be too much for that cooler to handle, you're at 3.8ghz at around 80c 4.2 - 4.5 is out of the question until you can get the heat down.

80C is really hot for 1.2v, is it really is 1.2v please confirm the voltage @ load with CPU-Z.
That cooler should do 1.2v at around i'd say like 65c depending on ambient, unless you have a warm cpu, I believe most 950 ran warmer than your average 920/930.
