CPU Core 3 not working in Prime95?

Thread Starter
Hi, I am testing my CPU with Prime95.
The CPU is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz

I runt the standard test in Prime95 (blend)

All the workers are running but this worker is not?
[Oct 3 12:05] Worker starting
[Oct 3 12:05] Setting affinity to run worker on logical CPU #3
[Oct 3 12:05] Beginning a continuous self-test to check your computer.
[Oct 3 12:05] Please read stress.txt. Choose Test/Stop to end this test.
[Oct 3 12:05] Test 1, 4000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M19922945 using FFT length 1024K.

When the other workers are at test 4, this worker is stuck at Test 1.

When stopping the workers I get this result:

[Oct 3 12:05] Worker starting
[Oct 3 12:05] Setting affinity to run worker on logical CPU #3
[Oct 3 12:05] Beginning a continuous self-test to check your computer.
[Oct 3 12:05] Please read stress.txt. Choose Test/Stop to end this test.
[Oct 3 12:05] Test 1, 4000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M19922945 using FFT length 1024K.
[Oct 3 12:10] Torture Test completed 0 tests in 9 minutes - 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Oct 3 12:10] Worker stopped.

Can some one please explain this? Should I replace the CPU?
I have a Dell computer, how to explain this for dell support?

when running the test on only that core it seems to be working, but not running the standard test on all cores.

Thanks

The temperature of the processor is about 72-74 degrees Celsius on all cores when running this test.

In idle the temperature is about 50 and with 13 % CPU usage the temperature is about 60 degrees Celsius.

Dell tells me this is normal, is this normal for this processor?

First welcome to OCN!

The temps are normal if you have bad cooling (airflow, CPU cooler).
But I would say the cooling issue is normal for a dell PC since they don`t build it to run cool.
I can`t say much about the core issue since I am no prime power user.
