[SP] AMD Bulldozer FX-Series Launch Date Confirmed by Micro Center - Page 10

Didn't one of the articles about the Microcenter statement mention that there would be an official posting about BIOS updates or something today? What happened to that?

HAHAHAHA. I just checked Gigabyte's website and ALL of the FX cpus that were listed a month or so ago are all gone, but there is a tidbit of info I did see:
"To enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series CPU support, please update your motherboard with the most current BIOS found in your motherboard’s download section."

Time to check my boards bios number (I have not installed it yet).

I am praying Bulldozer delivers in spades, and pushes Intel to release something they are holding in reserve. We actually need a 3rd player in the game truth be told.

C'mon Samsung lol, you are doing everything else....

It is a matter of time until Chinese fabricated CPUs will be a reality and they will take over the market just like every other retail item outsourced there has. When that happens everybody will yearn for the "Good Old Days" when people took sides between AMD and Intel.

Excited but I won't believe it until it actually is released to the public, the exact day.

If I remember I'll check the instore inventory list tomorrow for you folks.
But we get 2 trucks of merch every week so it could be another few days before we actually get them if the release date is correct, which no one has mentioned yet in our store.

Player 3 is Oracle, with their SPARC CPU's and their sparc servers coming out next year .

..Oh, you meant a 3rd competitive cpu maker? :/

Anyway at this point if the per-clock/per-core performance is the same as Phenom II I'm fine, assuming those 8-cores can clock to 5ghz and quads can do ~6.

Praying is probably a complete waste of time but I do agree with your sentiment.

The industry needs either a third player or at least a competant second one.

So basically you're fine with it being a Phenom 3?

If it is a Phenom 3, AMD are all but finished, they cannot afford to stuff this up, they must deliver something which at least beats the original core i7s.

I wouldn't mind rocking a 5Ghz Phenom III if the price was right
