Issues with gtx 460 in web browsers, gfx glitching

Got a Evga gtx 460 and installed latest drivers from website. Temps are about 36-39 idle. All I've done since install is web surfing. After 2-3 mins of use, in Firefox or IE, it'll just freeze and the edges of the screen will "glitch" and look off. I can move the mouse, but I can't click anything. And if I log off the current user via CTRL+ALT+DEL, everything comes back to normal. But if I do the log off, it happens quicker. If I reboot via reset button, it shuts down properly, everything comes back to normal.

Is this a bad card? Temps never get above 40 idle via gpu-z. I played an entire game of HoN and it maxed out at 57 degrees and did not freeze or "glitch" at all. Anyone know what might be wrong?

I also tried 275.33 version(one previous to curent) of the drivers and it doesn't seem happen as much but it did twice this morning. If I go with NO drivers at all, it seems to be fine also, cept the letters and screen are huge.

I DID update from a 9800gt, I did check the "perform clean install" while instalilng the 460 drivers though. Could that be why? Maybe a fresh win7 install might help? Or probably bad card or incompatible hardware?

Try using driver sweeper, then doing a fresh install of the latest non-beta drivers. Make sure that you are selecting all the correct options when downloading (OS, GTX 400 series, etc)

I'm still rocking the last folding stable version, 266, and I have never experienced what you are describing.

Since this happens with webbrowsing, I would suggest also clearing your cache and whatnot, I didn't see that mentioned in your post.

just make sure you select 9 series & windows 764 bit. The rest of those options are for market research.

Oh, is it 9 series for the gtx 460? I've been choosing 400 series and 64 bit...since I have a gtx 460... Or were you referring to Driver Sweeper?

I did notice that for the gtx 460, there's like 4 different choices. I have the evga gtx 460 Fermi superclocked card.

Does that make a difference? I chose just the Gtx 460 driver. There's 3 other choices: GTX 460 v2, 460 SE, and 460 SE v2

Also, I am using an older OCZ Modxtreme 700 watt PSU. Using 1 pci-e 6pin cord straight from the psu and another one from 2 4 pin molex, which has a few extensions for fans on them. Could that be why maybe?
