Don't video cards allocate more ram to your video card if you have some to spare? Unsure, asking.

I need a quick vram lesson as well. I think so but I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct.

VRam pros? Where you at?

Yes, you may be limited in vram in the future......however....how many games currently take full advantage of more than 1GB of vram? Not many.

Crossfire 6950 2GB's for futureproofing........or go single card and get the GTX 570. BF3 runs epic on mine.
I am not sure I'm getting the same results as yours, I am only using a few years champ

Lat I checked Crysis 2 DX11 was using the most VRAM and the GTX 570 was still beating the 6970 at 1080p.

If you are going multi-monitor though you will need at least 2GB VRAM.

It is a tough call but it's better to go with the 570. Just in general Nvidia has been having a lot more success in general lately so business wise they would be better to buy from. Also, depending on how much of the load your CPU can handle (which seems more than enough) getting even a weaker card can rip through BF3. By the way check my current laptop, it seems weak as heck but even with it's weak specs I can run crysis 2 AND BF3 (kinda) just fine. It's more the matter of can the rest of your pc support your gpu.

I'd recommend the GTX 570. It's a solid card and as mentioned previously, the driver support seems better from Nvidia. If ya can manage to get hold of some more cash, I'd go all in with a GTX 580. Those cards shred whatever ya can throw at them good luck!

Direct x was made to load all your models and views into the vram for faster access, it will offload them to your ram if your vram is full but then you will see a performance decrease.
