ATI drivers not fully installing.

Hello all. Making a first post and hopefully can get some help as I have been working hours on trying to figure this one out.

Anyways, I just built a new pc and pulled the video card and power supply out of my old computer to run in my new one and have a fresh version of Windows 7 installed but have ran into a bind with the ATI installer.

When I try to run the setup files from ATI to install the drivers and when I make it to the Express or Custom radio dots it will bring me to another screen where it shows me everything it is going to install but everything listed has an exclamation mark beside it and won't actually install if I let it go through the full process. Normally when installing the drivers the screen will flicker black for a second but when I try it just goes through and literally takes about 10 secs and then says finish.

After the so called install it requires a restart and when I get back into loading my desktop it just some what freezes where I can't see any icons being displayed on my desktop but I can hear programs turning on and no cursor/task bar being displayed. All I see is a desktop background and that is it.

Only way to get back into Windows again where I can see everything is by booting into safe mode and removing all the ati drivers that are installed by using driver sweeper and also going into the registry manually and removing anything AMD/ATI then restarting to get back into normal windows mode.

Hopefully someone on this forum will have an answer for me. lol

Tried the checkdisk and smart check and all seem to check out fine. There is no onboard video port for this motherboard so automatically disabled.

Thanks for the help/suggestions so far.

Friend brought his Nvidia 8800 over and installed the drivers for it and it works no problem. I know now for sure that it is a ATI driver issue.

I got the drivers installed somehow. I think the issue was just I wasn't looking hard enough in the registry and forgot about the WOW64 area to check. Removed them from there and seemed to have installed fine after that.

Thanks for the help Steve.
