Bingo, everyone seems to think these companies only make money if they have the top performing chip and forget that mainstream and low end Procs are where the money is. And if you can offer a competitive product for a smaller price, you win buyers over. When you win buyers over your marketshare increases. Higher marketshare = more recognized name, recognition = people more willing to buy. Most people know what Intel is and most people will say "Whats an AMD?". All they need to do is chip away at Intel with lower prices and they win. (Winning for AMD does not mean it has to beat Intel)

It was a pretty poor troll since it didn't get a rise out of me.

But their competition already put out a (probably) similarly performing product almost a YEAR ago now. That's an eternity in computer time. And have you looked at AMDs market share/stock lately?

Sure there are some exceptions, but price can, for the most part, be directly correlated to performance in the CPU category. If it its not, that's saying us as consumers are making bad choices when buying (i.e. buying a slower part for more money), and the free market system is failing because of our stupidity. And even in those cases you speak of where the cheaper setup outperforms the more expensive one, the difference in price and performance isn't much of anything in the real world. If you look at the big picture it's quite clear that price and performance are directly correlated.

It is amazing me that such important product doesn’t even have a firm release date.

This should be under Rumors and Unconfirmed Articles or at least Hardware News. In addition the thread that had this information was locked:

AMD = "Hey, they're really cheap!"
I suppose the 2500k is abysmal compared to the 2600k too, going by your logic.

I guess the 2500K is even worse than abysmal by that logic since it's only $219 compared the FX 8150 being $245.
