Windows Upgrade Serial Number Question...

Thread Starter
Hi Everyone,

I'm reading conflicting posts elsewhere, so I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone can get me a clear answer. I purchased a Windows Professional x64 Upgrade license via the Microsoft Ultimate Steal educator program ($29). The program allows you to purchase one copy of "Windows Professional x64 Upgrade" and one copy of "Windows Professional Upgrade" (32-bit). So, the question is, are the serial numbers for the upgrade interchangeable like with the retail serial numbers? Or are the upgrade serial numbers locked to their respective 64-bit and 32-bit versions?

Thanks,
-Rob

Are you trying to use the key on a previous install? Or are you asking about a clean install and using the upgrade serial as a product key?

There is a way to do a clean install and use the upgrade serial as a product key.

TRY THIS

PK or Serials are bit less. What matters is the PK or serial MUST MATCH the copy you're trying to install. e.g. installing Windows 7 Ultimate = Use a Windows 7 Ultimate PK or serial and vice versa.
