imo crysis 2 with dx11 and high res patch is much better looking

also the gameplay is very flawed, if the enemy play as a team and they are good, you won't literally see them 90% of the time and the most impressive of all is, all it takes is 1 or 2 bullet and your dead

as for the performance, your graphics card would be enough to play the game at high settings with very playable framerate
For graphics:
1. Its a beta
i. The graphics are locked down to the 3rd notch (out of 5 notches)
ii. There isnt the final textures / models in there
2. And you're playing a stock (un modded) game, and comparing it to a modded, final released game.

I'm getting random stuttering with BF3 even with all settings low at 800x600 or Auto at 1920x1080.

I am getting the feeling it's the driver, as the preview 11.10 did nothing. I'm currently on 11.8 again, but it seems to have affected the FPS on all of my games.

Is there anything else I could try to reduce stuttering?

I bet it has something to do with your audio and don't hijack my thread based on your problems. Go to another thread and ask for advice.

I also recently put up a new thread appraisal to see how much people would pay for my video card. I'm still uncertain about selling it. It has been good to me and i never had problems. Ya know the feeling when you don't wanna let a video card go, it's like giving away your own dog or cat lol.

I currently have an XFX 1GB 5870 in my rig. Do you think getting another will be sufficient enough to play BF3 smoothly on ultra settings? or should I upgrade to 2gb 6980's or so?

I don't think that's the proper way to say it.

Haha! Thanks

Anyway, why are you so keen on getting a new "higher end" GPU? You'd go a long way with just another GTX 460. I mean, they are some of, if not the, best cards in SLI

I know man. It's hard to find the ones i have. They don't make them anymore you know? I may consider just selling it and add that profit to the money i have saved and buy a GTX 570 or 580 early perhaps. Cuz it's pointless to wait for 600 series cuz i know they're gonna be extremely expensive and they ain't even out. I wanna play Batman dx11 to the fullest eye candy ever especially getting a free Batman game lol.

Besides BF3 that is. Sure i don't mind SLi this card with the same card i have but i cannnot seem to find a clean new retail version instead of having to deal with buying a used one and i don't like used cards cuz i don't know if they work that well. There are 2 at least the ones i have exactly the same on amazon.com but still undecided.

I might as well sell it i guess. I don't know. I suck at making decisions lol.

I just upgraded from an ASUS GTX460 to an ASUS GTX570 ( which I will be adding a 2nd for SLI around December) and I love it. Also you can SLI cards from different manufacturers. i.e. an ASUS with an EVGA as long as they're both 460s. As long as you don't mind mixing and matching. I don't think the OCD would let me get away with that though.
