Was 965 BE to a 2500k worth the upgrade?

Thread Starter
A few days ago, I upgraded to a 2500k from my 965 BE. As much as I love how well the CPU overclocks, I am starting to think that it wasnt worth the upgrade.

I saw the thread about the 965 BE performing as well as the 2500k in BF3 and that made me a little disappointed. I thought that there was supposed to be a pretty significant FPS increase in games?

Anyway, I am stuck with the CPU now, but I wanted to know, in what ways does the 2500k perform better?

Only difference I have noticed so far is that from stock 965 settings to 4.5ghz 2500k, my 32m wprime scores has went from 11 seconds to 8.9 seconds.

Did you test any games before with your 965 so you could compare them to the 2500k?

So you don't notice much of a difference from your Phenom to i5 with a single mid-range card.

I could have told you this before you upgraded.

Would've done better to crossfire your 6870, I think? Not sure what motherboard you had before though...

I noticed a BIG difference in StarCraft II, namely mid-late game in 3v3 and 4v4 games.

HD 6870 is too weak to notice the difference.

Yeah that's true. Gpu upgrades would always give a better fps increase than a cpu upgrade unless you're using some kind of terrible cpu.
