[BGR]Sprint scores iPhone 5 exclusive thanks to $20 billion deal with Apple? - Page 6

Whether you like sprint, or hate sprint, you should want this to succeed if true.

This has the potential, if it succeeds and if it is true, to cause the other two carriers to start competing.

Ultimately we want an iphone we can use on any carrier, causing all three to fight for your business.

Has anyone even thought that this could be true? Steve jobs isn't at the helm anymore. What if this is the new direction of apple? Not that hard to believe since steve is no longer making the calls.

I'm calling B.S. Sprint does not have any money.

A $200 phone + 2 years of service averages to $2k, maybe a little more. Multiply that by 30 million phones and that's $60b. It could be a home run or a major disaster that literally destroys Sprint. Wonder how they're raising the capital considering they only had $4.5b in cash at the end of Q2. They're pretty much betting the future of the company on the iPhone.

As a Sprint customer, I'd really hate to see them go down in flames. I think if they just stayed the course, people would get tired of AT&T and Verizon continually taking more and more from customers and switch to Sprint which has the most consumer-friendly plans imo. If Sprint dies, we'll have a true duopoly and we'll all suffer for it.

I know Rogers is getting by the end of October, early November.

I spoke to a rep the other day who said they just finished their iPhone training, and would be getting it in about 3 weeks. She also mentioned that the Apple store gets exclusivity.

I find it hard to believe that Sprint would get exclusivity like this, considering AT&T and Verizon are both bigger.

Exactly. Plus, do carriers really pay $666.67 per phone? That's a crazy ripoff.

I would've thought that they paid anywhere from $300 - $400 max.

Yes. And for christ's sake, a company that can drive down data costs. These B.S. artists don't need to charge the outrageous amounts they do.

I'm not sure why more people don't embrace Sprint to be honest.
